# Gri11 2.0

Dear future self,

Well I'm not really sure what to say to you right now.  Well Shawn or Shawny (whatever your name is) wait hang on my name’s still Shawn/Shawny Rickard right?. Anyway do you have any floating cars or time machines. Oh and by the way if you do could you maybe write me a letter and send it back in time. Tell me about what's happening in the future. Oh or even better come and visit me I would love to see what you look like! I bet your pretty! Oh but don't think you have to. You might not even have a time mosian. Also maybe now that you're older you can write another letter to yourself!

Ok now let's get on with the real deal. So you may not remember this so i’m going to tell you some info.  I’m in Mr R’s and Miss G’s class. Its called GRi11 2.0. G for Gordon, R for Robertson,  The i is for ten because the bottom line is the 1 in 10 and the dot at the top is the 0, Last of all the 2 1’s are 11 because we are rooms 10 and 11. We are a double class if you don't remember.

In Gri11 2.0 I have learned in a very different style that any other class I have been in. I have had one to one devices to use such as: Macbook airs, macbook pros, Ipads and chromebooks. Most people in my class call them “crapbooks”  but I don't think they're all that bad. Although I would prefer a macbook air. By the way I’m only telling you all this boring stuff because if you have all this high tech future stuff you can go “wow that stuffs ancient!”

Being in Gri11 2.0 we have learnt many valuable lessons and tricks that we can take with us our whole life. My teachers have made sure I have tried my very best at everything I do. Miss G was the “musical one” I tried chorale and kids for kids because of her. I would have never done that before.  I even got a small solo in chorale! Mr R was the “sporty one” who made ure we tried everything because it was our last year. Because of him I tried netball touch rugby and interclub tennis. Before I started tennis I sucked. I couldn’t hit the ball. But now I would say i’m alright.

What I am trying to say is Gri11 2.0 has made my life! Get it? Instead of made my day! Haha anyway we have been on camps, fun days, trips and so many more AMAZING things! I am really sad to be leaving school. I remember when I didn’t even what to come but now I don’t want to leave! So now I am here to say

Taking action Yoga

In class we have been doing taking action. That means that we take action with something to help. It is usually the school.Sorry if I did not explain this very well i'm not very good at that kind of thing.

Every term there is a different theme. This years is cultural diversity. I decided to join the sports group to help get the school involved in some other sports.  My friends also joined that group. From there we decided to split into small groups inside the big group to do different sports. My group is My friends Kristy, Siu, Maddi and also someone called Holly. We thought that Yoga would be a great sport because it is from India.

We have done so much work to get ready for our day when we get to teach them the Yoga. We decided to do a little test class to see if people like it.We asked some people from our class. I liked some of it. Some parts where really good but some where a little of.

In the end we had heps of fun and a good idea on what our later on Yoga classes would be like. It was also really good because we had some things we could do better. I have really loved what we have done with our Yoga so far and I cant wait to see what we can do now!

My argument

In GRI11 2.0 we have been doing lots of writing lately. I have selected a piece of writing about polar bears. This piece of writing is an argument. I used things from my inquiry and wrote something with evidence and opinion. Here is my writing.

How are polar bears dying and how can we prevent it?

Our cute fluffy polar bears are dying due to many different things. I believe that doing something is necessary.

Global warming and climate change are changing the environment that Polar Bears live in. They are causing the arctic ice to melt. Polar bears need cold weather so the ocean can freeze and they can walk across the ice to catch their prey. They can not do that if it is too warm because the ocean won't freeze over and there is no ice to walk on. If they don't eat they won't grow enough fat to make them strong and keep them warm.  Some scientists predict that if the ice continues to melt in the arctic, polar bears may die out in 2040!

Because of climate change the polar bears are forced to spend more time off the ice/water, they meet humans more than they used to. This meet can cause harm or even death to both humans and polar bears. There is some things that can be provided from dead polar bears like Polar bear fur or Polar bear rugs. Back in the early 1800s there was lots of polar bear catching and killing which brought their numbers down. Now their numbers have gone up slightly as there is not as much killing, but there is still some going on and that needs to stop. While they may be nice decorations it is not very good for the polar bears.

Polar bears have an important role in keeping marine life healthy so without them the Arctic environment will not be the same. Over thousands of years, polar bears have also been an important part of the cultures and traditions of Arctic people.

So now you have heard what I have to say about polar bears, I hope you have had second thoughts about them and are thinking about helping. Some great ways to help the polar bears are to Use Less Energy , Buy Less , Conserving Water , Driving Less and Eating Less Meat. If everybody does these things we will be able to help the polar bears and give them a better life.

Help make a change!

A girl in another world

This is a story I made up for our free choice blog I hope you like it!

One bright sunny day Scarlett, a normal 10 year old was playing with her little sister poppy and her three older brothers James, Ashton and Matt. They were at there weird uncle fords house to stay. He was a scientist and did lots of wacky things. She didn't want to get involved with any of his experiments because she had no idea what she might go through. She went to try find the bathroom but she didn't remember were it was she found a door and decided to take her chances and go through but Scarlett new it wasn't right and left.

All day Scarlett was curios about the room. That night when she went to bed she couldn't resist. She jumped out of bed and wondered down to the room. in her nightie she opened the door and looked inside. She saw that there was a combination. Suddenly she tripped over hitting five tiles. Oh no she said she expected an alarm or something but instead she found out she had done the password.

She walked into a strange lab with lots of cool things in it. She steeped into a hole by accident and found herself swirling down into a another dimension! She closed her eyes swirling down and then when she opened them back up there she was in a funny looking dimension.  She walked through a acrid and into a dessert '' HELP '' she cried ''I don't know were I am'' suddenly a voice came for a distance. '' come, come with me I will help you.''

Scarlett walked Ford to the voice and there in front of her was an old lady. '' I am Ersalamapa'' she said '' you can call me Ersal.'' Over some time Ersal and Scarlett became good friends and she was invited to Ersals house for some super. Ersal told you to sit down'' I have something special prepared tonight I hope you like it, I now I will. Ersal liked her lips and walked away. Scarlett didn't think anything of it through and just stayed sitting down.

Scarlett looked over into the kitchen and saw an an arm the fruit bowl, As well as a foot and head! ''Ahhh'' Scarlett screamed. She new exactly what was going on Ersals a cannibal! She quickly ran out back to the acrid and was sucked back up.Scarlett opened her eyes and found herself back in her bed again It was morning now. her mum came in ''did you sleep well honey'' she said ''just fine.''

TTS

TTS stands for Traditional teaching styles.
We did this on Tuesday. There was nothing we had in our usual class.
Only tables and chairs in rows an old projector and a hop that you had to sit in if you were being bad.
We did a CSI on it
A CSI is a colour symbol image. You put the colour you were felling the symbol you thought of and the image you think of. We did one on on TTS and one on learning in GRI11 2.0

Sports Rotations!

At my school C.S.N.S We have something called a sports rotation. Every Tuesday we go to the place are sport is being held. We always have two activities to do. My favourite activate is the hokey. The hokey is run on the school turf and couched by our year five and six school sports couches.

I like the hokey because they make it fun and teach us skills we need for a game of hokey. We usually get a hokey stick and we play a game of seaweed except the tagger has to hit the other persons ball out. After that we usually do some skills and then we play a mini game of hokey with our friends.

I really love the the hokey at sports rotations but I also like the other sports as well. The sports I,v had throughout the years are Tennis, football, soccer, badminton, golf, basketball, circuits and cricket. All of these are really run and I love doing all of them. I cant till next Tuesday so I can do more sports rotations.
